Appearing at the SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL with guest artist Jacoh Cortes , director of our Cuicacalli programs – low cost dance training for public school youth in the heart of the Mission district. We will also be joined onstage by wonderful  community artists Gina Pacaldo, Jessica Marisol  Allen, and baby Rulan Harjo representing 3 generations of amazing Nay Area Native performers !

This presentation of “Of Bodies of Elements” is made possible by the Yocha de He Community Fund, the Zellerbach Fund and a Challenge America award from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as the MetLife Community Connections Fund of the National Dance Project, a program administered by the New England Foundation for the Arts. WORKSHOP AT SAN FRANCISCO CONSERVATORY OF DANCE WITH DANCING EARTH

Thursday, May 19th

1:30-3:30 PM

$10, or free with ticket to SFIAF performances of Dancing Earth

 

We will offer a workshop to  familiarizes the Bay Area community with the Indigenous cultural theme and creative process of their award winning eco-production ” Of Bodies Of Elements”, currently on national tour. Alive with sound and rhythms, organic movements , metaphor rooted in philosophical worldview, we gather and invoke individual expression, group dynamic and the connective spirit between life forms. The workshop is open to both dancers, non dancers  and SFIAF ticketholders who wish to observe.

DANCING EARTH was also invited to perform in San Francisco on May 23rd at the George Moscone Convention Center’s “International Powwow Conference’, on behalf of the National Parks Service. The dancers captivated an international audience of 5000 with many jumbo-trons streaming footage of the continents most stunning vistas, and closeups of the performers in adapted excerpts of our production.
