Special thanks to Valerie Martinez for inviting Rulan Tangen to guest teach at her amazing students at UNM course: " Sharing the Same Space: Creative Collaboration and Racial Healing" in early September ! *** The students joined in creative sound/movement exercises to engage in dialogue, culminating in a rhythmic improvisation of words and gestures, described as a microcosm of interactive diversity!National Tour of "Of Bodies of Elements" kicks off, thanks to the Doris Duke Fund for Dance of the National Dance Project, a program administered by the New England Foundation for the Arts with funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Ford Foundation, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Community Connections Fund of the MetLife Foundation !We will be in St Louis starting late September, with master dance classes, street dance workshops for juvenile detention center, lecture about dance as catalyst for transformative healing for Buder Ctr of Social Work, and interactions with local Native community. We present a show of excerpts for schoolchildren on Fri morn Oct 1 at 10 am, and for families at 11 am on Sat Oct 2.
