ABOUT THIS PRESENTATION
Thinking that the title would be: Memory and Belonging: Daystar shares memories of her parents and grandparents living on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana, and of earlier anecdotes about her French/Cree great-grandmother Susan Bigknife. Daystar is fortunate to have family stories as well as articles that were used by those ancestors - a deer hoof bag which was her grandmother's sewing basket, her pipe, her moccasins, various hide preparation tools and a Cree Bible. Daystar will show these articles and speak about the importance of family, tribal and personal storytelling.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
"Native American people have volumes to speak not only to non-Indian society, but to each other as well. I personally feel that all of us, Indian and non-Indian alike, could benefit, especially now, from Native American philosophy and life experience. I intend to continue not only as a performer, teacher, and choreographer, but also as a catalyst for cross-cultural understanding." Rosalie M. Jones
