Erin Currier’s paintings , of Dancing Earth
I am always enchanted by histories in art, of times and places when artists of different disciplines overlapped : such as the Ballet Russe era in Paris, with collaborations on costumes, set design, and music from extraordinary creators all living in Paris ( Matisse, Debussy, Ravel, Poiret ) all madly inspired by the dancers - introducing avant garde aesthetic to wide audience - with the power of bold colors and expressive forms central to nthe "Fauvist" art movement. In many ways I was seeking that when I moved to NYC, and later to Santa Fe NM. Often modeling for painters, and meeting musicians - until finally I was able to commission scores and costumes for Dancing Earth wiitrh amazing makers such as Ehren Kee Natay , QVLN - Quetzal Guerrero, Alicia Piller, and Connie Wind Walker..

Her paintings are also collages of memorabilia from her travels, with symbolism embedded into the designs ; her portrait of me included symbols of the elements, a nod to an epic performance she attended in 2010 , “Of Bodies of Elements “ which was reviewed by the great writer, the late Anthony Hassett for THE magaazine
