“UNITED AND UNBREAKABLE” : HIV/AIDS CONFERENCE Sept 17-20, 2026

On Sept 19, I am profoundly moved to be commissioned to make several dances for an HIV/AIDS conference in Southern California,  with six Dancing Earth guest artists .

 As a teenage ballet dancer, I arrived in NYC to meet a generation of amazingly talented, brilliant gay men who were in their 20s, and gave me incredible encouragement to be myself, to be distinctive , colorful, and confident in my talent. Some of them may have not have grown up with that encouragement from their families or communities, but there they were making their mark in dance, sneaking me into clubs , feeding me hot soup at their waitering jobs. By the time I was in my mid 20s , they had all passed away in that terrible pandemic of AIDS that changed culture in ways we hardly can track. We will dance for all the dances they were not able to dance , and all the years of life they were not able to live, with the producers commission including the following  requested tracks, filled with joy and rhythm :
